ARE efforts are hence focused on scalable renewable energy technologies enabling electricity access at the household, small and medium sized companies (SME) and community level. Amongst others this includes solar PV, small hydro, wind, biomass and biogas, mini-grids, (battery) storage, power components. As partner of the UN’s Sustainable Energy for All (SEforAll) Initiative ARE has helped push for the creation and approval of the Millenium Development Goals (MDGs) and later for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) where SDG7 aims to ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all people. Therefore, in summary the mission of the Alliance of Rural Electrification is not only important and contemporary, but indispensable in the fight for a more prosperous, more equal and a more sustainable world.
